Instagram Introduces Reels

Instagram introduces a new feature; Instagram reels. Apart from photo and video sharing, Instagram can now be used for content creation. With Instagram reels, a  video of 15 seconds can be created. The feature was originally launched in Brazil last year. Last month, it was extended to France and Germany. Instagram’s Explore section shows the reel tab. When there is a vacant space created by the ban on TikTok, and many new apps trying to fulfill the gap, Instagram reels is introduced at the right time with no doubts.

About Instagram Reels

For creating the video, the option is available on Instagram’s camera interface. It has featured editing tools too. The feature includes audio and AR effects, timer and countdown, alignment, and speed.

Created content can be filtered via hashtags, audio clips, and videos created by the user. To watch, navigate to the explore tab and tap on the Reels button. Reels partners with popular music labels to provide a vast collection of songs that will be enhancing the user experience.

Reels can stay in your profile like your posts. You can choose with whom to share your videos. If your account is public, you can share the reel and make it viewable for everyone regardless of whether they follow you or not. Users can also restrict the view of their followers. The reels can be shared on Insta Stories or in Direct messages. This will stay for 24 hours. Videos can be reviewed, re-recorded, and deleted. Multiple videos can be recorded at once and then effects can be added to each clip. Part of the audio and video can be speeded up or slowed down.

Head of Facebook India,  Ajith Mohan dismissed speculations that the release of Reels is related to the ban of TikTok.
