Android 11-based Wear OS update announced!

AS a part of #11WeeksOfAndroid announcements, Google just announced that Android 11-based Wear OS update is on its way. It was not an official announcement. They just mentioned that several Android 11 new features will be introduced on Wear OS.

Google introduced the #11WeeksOfAndroid campaign, Google focuses on a new Android feature each week. Google says, “Over 11 weeks, we’ll be diving deeper into different areas of Android with new developer content. Each week brings a new focus, everything from UI to Android Jetpack to Machine Learning.” Here is an insight into the topics for the eleven weeks.

Android 11-based Wear OS update

As a part of the #11WeeksOfAndroid campaign, Google announced some new features to be rolled out with a new Android Wear OS. This will include faster startup time and around 20% speed improvement in Android. It will also offer support for Qualcomm 4100 processor and Snapdragon Wear 4100+ processing systems. Both of these were announced last month, promising 85% faster performance and 25% lesser battery consumption.

Google also confirmed that the new Wear OS update will introduce a ‘handwash timer’ on Android 11. It will also introduce an easy to read weather interface that gives periodic breakdowns of the weather ahead. Google will also be making improvements in Android studios, Kotlin and Jetpack libraries to facilitate app developments in wearables. This new Wear OS update will also make onboard pairing and access to information easier. It will introduce several improvements in SysUI to effectively manage different watch modes and workouts.

Android 11-based Wear OS update announced but Google is yet to officialise the launch date.
