Brisbane Lions Cam Rayner stands up against Richmond captain

Brisbane Lion’s Cam Rayner has been appreciated a lot for helping Brisbane. Especially when the team was struggling with immense pressure form an uncanny fightback. The entertaining and exciting 1st half of the qualifying finals of AFL paved way for an amazing turn. A flood of goals made the lions jump a huge leap. In the 2nd quarter, Lions were ahead 44 to 33 at half-time.

With some minutes to spare, Cam Rayner made a scuffle in the middle of the field with Trent Cotchin’s tigers. just Moments later, Rayner shot a mind blowing goal from long range.

Brisbane had extended its 11-year losing streak in AFL with Richmond with a 41 point loss. The tigers defeated the lions to claim a 82 to 41 victory and moved up to 3rd in the ladder. This is also their 15th consecutive defeat which dates back to 2009. In the 2nd match, Dustin Martin disposed 10 score involvements, 3 goals assist, 24 disposals and 10 possessions. The Match was about to be won by the tigers but the 2nd half changed this. The Lions’ inability to finish was inevitable.

This was exposed when Sam Skinner somehow missed to put clean through at the top of the goal square. Whereas, the tigers were maximising all the opportunities. Even Shai Bolton kicked a goal from 65 meters out. The situation did not improve even in the 3rd quarter, when lions were 5 behind their goal when tigers kicked the 1st goal. By that time, Lion’s captain kicked the team’s 4th goal on the 10th minute, the tigers kicked 11.

Lachie Neale of Bisbane excelled the possessions chart with a total of 26 touchdowns. But, they were still second best in front of tigers.

The Brisbane Lions also lost their Cam Rayner to a hamstring injury before half-time. Thus, the star forward will not be able to participate in the upcoming Saturday’s match against the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba.
