The Education sector is one of the worst-hit during this pandemic. Resumption of Schools conservational offline classes is not possible as it might put the lives of lakhs in danger. Keeping in mind the population density of the nation, the government did not start the regular education system. However, on October 3, 2020, the Union Ministry of Education came up with a notification regarding the same.
The notice includes the guidelines that the schools and other educational institutions need to follow if the regular classes resume. According to it, the schools that are in the containment zones cannot open until the COVID19 cases reduce. Also, the classes can start on October 15, 2020.
Regulation of Duties and Rules for Resumption of Schools:
As per the Guidelines, the decision will be taken by the state government/Union Territories. They will have to regulate the rules for schools according to their situations. Besides, UME also wants the governments of each state to promote online learning in the schools.
For continuing regular classes, the students have to bring a written permission letter from their guardians. Moreover, the UTs snd states have to make SOPs following the Unlock 5 Guidelines. The SOPs should be following the necessities of the states. The schools that will start in the pandemic need to strictly follow the SOPs.
Situations of various states in the Pandemic:
India is a multicultural nation. The population density of India is one of the highest in the world. Commanding and maintaining the command is not an easy task here. Besides, it requires proper planning and execution. Different states are at different levels of danger. Making a general rule for the whole country might make the condition worse. For this reason, the states and UTs are given the right to take their actions for resuming the schools.
Schools in Bengaluru and other A-One cities:
The schools in cities like Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Mumbai remain closed. The states in which these cities belong have not yet come up with a notice to restart the education institutes. The COVID19 cases are still high in these cities. The online mode of classes will continue for the time being.
In Tripura, the Government has reopened the schools for grades 9 and 12. The classes started on October 5, 2020. Also, it is happening voluntarily.
Schools in Puducherry:
The UT Puducherry is allowing the resumption of classes for the students of grades 10 and 12. The population density is manageable, hence, the UT was able to take such a decision.
Other Union Territories:
The classes in the schools are year to start in the UTs like Daman and Due, Lakshadweep, and Andaman and the Nicobar Islands.
