Sony’s new PS5 ad designed to promote PS5 could be teasing Uncharted 5

Uncharted 5 might hinted at in a recent PS5 promo video from Sony.

In the new promo, titled “Live from PS5”, several PlayStation games—including God of War, Horizon, Gran Turismo, and others—are recreated through a series of live-action news reports.

One live-action clip from a PS5 game, though, stands out above all the others as being unfamiliar.

It portrays a young woman holding a candle in a cave. She may be seen sweeping dust off an old artifact in a different short video.

The only shots that aren’t instantly identifiable are the clips, which raises the possibility that they are from an unknown project.

Potential Uncharted 5 Teaser by Sony

To us, this imagery screams “Uncharted” right away. Or rather Indiana Jones, however that show borrowed heavily from the original series. The young woman could be a wink to Cassie, Elena Fisher and Nathan Drake’s daughter, who you briefly control after Uncharted 4.

Players have speculated that a new Uncharted might let you play as Cassie, with her taking her father’s heritage as an explorer, ever since the release of “A Thief’s End” in 2016.

In a blog article introducing the ad, Sony said: “This new spot hints at the breadth of extraordinary experiences taking place in the PS5 universe through the style of a live news channel. See if you can spot all the game references.”

Cassie, the teenage daughter of Nathan Drake and Elena Fisher, finds artifacts from their earlier experiences after Uncharted 4 (spoiler warning!), and Drake decides to tell her about them.

Some believe that Cassie will play the lead role in the upcoming Uncharted game, picking up where her parents left off.

Most likely, Naughty Dog Isn’t Making A New Uncharted Game

Neil Druckmann, the co-president of Naughty Dog, stated last week that the studio has “moved on” from the Uncharted series. But it doesn’t prevent another company from buying the IP.

Additionally, a studio recruiter seemed to imply in April of last year that Sony could be preparing additional Uncharted installments.

When Christina-Marie Drake McBrearty announced her joining Naughty Dog, she noted it was special “to be developing future teams for not only new projects but for the legacy of Uncharted.”

Because Sony has chosen to emphasize that 2023 will be a very exciting year for the PlayStation. Because of publishing a new blog and repeating that getting a PlayStation 5 will become much easier going forward. Also, hyping up the release of PlayStation VR2, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Final Fantasy XVI, and more this year. Many Uncharted fans may feel a little let down by the new trailer that goes along with this blog. As it has cool references to both recently released and upcoming PS5 games.

Possible new protagonist for Uncharted 5

Additionally, a job offering from late last year mentioned that Sony’s newly established internal development team. This collaborating with Naughty Dog on a game based on “a beloved franchise.”

Other Sony-owned studios, such as Bend Studio (Uncharted: Golden Abyss) and Bluepoint Games. They have already created Uncharted spin-offs or remasters (Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection).

Before, Sony appeared to hint at upcoming games via ads. A Resident Evil 4 symbol appeared in a new PlayStation advertisement in September 2021. It’s almost nine months before the Resident Evil 4 remake was first revealed at the PlayStation State of Play show.

Around the 43, 47, and 49 second marks, a female explorer with a light suddenly appears among obvious references to God of War: Ragnarök, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7, Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, Ghost of Tsushima, and Stray.
