Due to the current pandemic scenarios, “Internet is the new normal.” Business, Education and what not can you find on internet. So, here comes the student of Westchester High telling the world that possibly nothing can stop them.
No set, stage, costumes, cast party, lighting. Still these talented students managed to organize a event with such a vast audience virtually. They made a wonder out of nothing and did everything, making it look so easy.
WHAT TO STUDENTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT THEIRS HARDWORK?
The students said that they miss the fellowship normally shared when rehearsing a show on campus. But this year it was a total different experience for both students and the audience. “With every situation there comes an opportunity it was great that we could perform songs from a wider range of musical styles and periods.” said sophomore of Westchester High Matthew Giovannetti.
“We cannot let this pandemic stop us from pulling our show because We had to do a show, both for ourselves and the community,” said Theatre Director John Lopez. “What could be possible to produce even if we were unable to attend school for the current year?”
Students did the bulk of the chores during virtual meetings and even some carefully socially distanced rehearsals. Each performer, wearing an earbud to hear an accompaniment track, pre-recorded practice versions and ultimately final recordings of all the songs from in their own homes.
Auditions were virtual, and students chose songs to fit the general theme of their musical, remembrances, and new beginning. The show was as amazing as it could’ve been offline. The students, teachers and everyone else involved pulled off the show in a very gracefully . Their hard work paid off. The audience praised and enjoy the musical evening of Westchester High.
