Google is revising its policies and restricting the advertising for spyware and malware that make use of unauthorized tracking. The policy update is expected to come into effect globally on 11 August. According to the post on Alphabet Inc-owned company’s website, it will no longer allow advertisers to promote products that are marketed with the purpose of tracking user activities without their authorization. Usually, such tracking is used to monitor texts, phone calls, and browsing history of the user. It also applies to cameras and recorders marketed for the purpose of spying.

Google Enabling Dishonest Behavior policy has already been violated by these products. The change will make the ban on tracking technology explicit. This may lead to increased enforcement. According to Google, accounts of advertisers will be suspended if they are found violating the policy once implemented.
