DigiLocker : Download Official Documents

DigiLocker is a flagship initiative. Ministry of Electronics and IT (MeitY) has taken this initiative under Digital India Programme. Moreover, this digital program provides access to authentic digital documents to Citizen’s “Digital Document Wallet”. This digital platform aims at “digital empowerment”.

Readers can use the website i.e official website. In addition, the government has also launched the DigiLocker application. Readers can download it from iTunes and Google Playstore.

To download documents from DigiLocker, one needs to Link his or her Aadhaar number. Further, you can download various issued documents of a different organisation such as CBSE, UIDAI, UP State Board etc. In addition, you can download your documents such as

  • Real-Time Verification: Provides a verification module enabling government agencies to verify data directly from issuers after obtaining user consent.

How to create an account on DigiLocker?

Citizens of India need to follow the below-mentioned steps to create an account. The steps are  as follows:

  • Firstly, users need to register themselves either on the official website or the application.
  • After that, the users are asked to enter the registered mobile number linked to Aadhaar.
  • Then, enter the  OTP (One Time Password)  sent on your registered mobile number. And, click on “Verify”.
  •  After that, you need to create a username and password of your choice.
  • Further, click on the “Sign up” button to continue.
  • Most importantly, after you sign up, you can log in to your DigiLocker account.

So, once you log in you can upload and issue your documents easily through the DigiLocker app

How to download or Upload Documents from the DigiLocker?

In addition, citizens can download theirs easily from the application designed by the government. DigiLocker is an electronic Platform to hold documents and certificates in an electronic medium. Moreover, once you have signed up, you can upload or download your easily. The steps are as follows:

  • Firstly, Enter your username and password. And, sign in to your DigiLocker account.
  • Secondly, click on “Upload Documents” after you sign in to your account.
  • After that, click on “UPLOAD” option at the top of the screen.
  • Then, you need to choose the location, select the file you want to upload
  • After that, click on the “open” button.
  • Hereafter, you need to click on ” select document type ” for any of the document available in the uploaded document list.
  • A drop-down box will appear. Select the document type.
  • However, in case your document type does not match with the predefined documents; choose the option “Others” in the drop-down box.
  • Click on the ” Save ” option.
  • Lastly, your document type will update. You will be able to see the same reflecting in front of the “document” option.

Uploading or Downloading of  Mark sheet and Certificates in the DigiLocker account

Students can easily update and download their mark sheets from the DigiLocker application or website. Students need to keep in mind the following points:

  • Learners should use their registered mobile number to login to their accounts.
  • They should enter the OTP (One Time Password) within its time limit while signing up to DigiLocker account.
  • In case of CBSE mark sheet, they should enter the last six digits of their roll number as the security pin and log in.
  • After that, students should go to the “issued document” section of the DigiLocker.
  • Students will be able to retrieve their class 10th and class 12th mark sheet as well as certificates.

In addition, if the student’s Aadhaar is not linked to the mobile number; it can still be linked to the DigiLocker account. In this case, students need to follow the below-mentioned instructions.

  • After successful login, students should click on “Browse”.
  • After that, they should select their board. For instance, “Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)” in the education category.
  • Hence, students should select their type of document. For instance, mark sheet, Migration Certificate, or Passing certificate.
  • After that, enter the required details such as roll no., year of examination and result.
  • Lastly, students will be able to download their mark sheet and certificates.
