Aaditya Thackeray Moves to Supreme Court

Aaditya Thackeray, cabinet minister of Maharashtra gave a petition to the Supreme Court on Saturday. This is against the decision of the central government to conduct final year exams in September after postponing them due to coronavirus outbreak. However, the court hasn’t admitted the petition for hearing.

The petition has been filed under the name of Yuva Sena led by Aaditya Thackeray, which is the youth wing of the ruling party Shiv Sena. They claimed that the central government was “ignoring physical and mental health, anxiety and safety of students across the country” by their absurd decision to conduct the examinations. Yuva Sena pointed out that even major educational institutions like IITs had already canceled their final year exams. They asked to promote students based on aggregate marks so far in the academic year.

Aaditya tweeted on this and asked UGC if they would take responsibility for the health of every single student. He also warned that the lives of lakhs of students and teaching staff were at stake.
