Phillip Island is a famous wildlife park in Australia. Phillip Island is hugely famous for the large flocks of penguin inhabiting it and showcasing their little Penguin Parade. This year, Phillip Island is live-streaming its Penguin Parade every night. This has given a respite to the anticipatory people that could not attend it in person due to corona virus.
Phillip Island and the Parade
A two-hour drive away from Melbourne, Phillips Island is famous for its exquisite Penguin Parade, all around the year. Phillips Island is also famous for its breathtaking scenery and the variety of wildlife present there. However, the Penguin Parade, occurring at sunset each day, steals the show. The number of penguins present in this phenomenon exceeds around three thousand.
Every year, visitors flock the island in herds to catch a glimpse of this beautiful parade. The penguins arrive from the seashore around sunset every day and stay there for around an hour. They mostly come ashore after it gets dark.
Live streaming of the Parade
Phillips Island Nature Parks has undertaken an impressive initiative of live streaming the Penguin Parade, beginning from August 25th. People can now easily experience this surreal act from the comfort of their homes, clicking away on Facebook and YouTube. The live streaming will begin at 6 PM AEST, also allowing the viewers to ask questions to the rangers in real-time.
This will be the first time that such a natural phenomenon will be live-streamed for users to watch. The penguins that are otherwise crowded by people wanting to catch a glimpse, will now be alone on the shores. It will be worth watching if they act any different in the absence of on-lookers.
Australia is still under Stage 4 of restriction since the pandemic situation is yet to come under some sort of control. But the folks at Phillip Island has mentioned that this live-streaming will continue for some time, allowing people to witness the Penguin Parade without having to go there.
