Police reports say two men allegedly dragged a 30-year-old woman into a private sleeper bus and assaulted her for nearly two hours while driving through different parts of Delhi during the night of May 11 and May 12, 2026.
What makes the case even more heartbreaking is that the woman was simply trying to return home after finishing work.
Delhi Nangloi gang-rape case: A Simple Question Turned Into Horror
The woman, a mother of three daughters, works as a laborer in a factory in Mangolpuri. Like many daily wage workers in Delhi, she was returning home late at night after completing her shift.
Around 12:30 AM, she reached the Saraswati Vihar and Rani Bagh area after taking an e-rickshaw. Near a bus stand, she reportedly noticed a private sleeper bus parked nearby.
She only wanted to know the time.
According to investigators, she approached a man standing near the bus door and asked him for the time. Within moments, the situation allegedly turned terrifying.
Police say the man, along with another accused inside the bus, forcibly pulled her into the vehicle.
Assault Inside the Moving Bus
Investigators believe the bus then started moving toward Nangloi while the woman remained trapped inside.
According to the complaint, the two accused allegedly assaulted her repeatedly inside the moving bus for nearly two hours.
The bus reportedly travelled several kilometers across Outer Delhi during that period.

Police say the accused eventually abandoned the woman near Nangloi Metro station around 2 AM before fleeing the area. Despite her physical and emotional trauma, the woman managed to approach the police and report the incident.
Officials registered an FIR at Nangloi Police Station under relevant sections related to gang rape under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
She was later taken to Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital for medical examination and counselling. According to reports, the woman initially worried about staying in the hospital for long because she feared for her children at home and wondered who would take care of them.

Police Arrest Both Accused
Delhi Police later identified the accused as Umesh and Ramendra, who reportedly worked as the driver and conductor of the bus.
Both men are said to be from Uttar Pradesh.
Investigators used CCTV footage, technical surveillance, and local intelligence to trace them within a short period. The private sleeper bus, which carried a Bihar registration number, has also been seized for forensic investigation.
Police are currently reconstructing the route taken by the vehicle during the alleged crime.
