Amazon’s Prime Day Sale on 6th and 7th August turned out to be quite a blockbuster for the Indian sellers. With the initiation of ‘Vocal for Local’, the made in India goods were quite an in demand this sale. No wonder the sale made 209 sellers crorepatis!

Designed to benefit the online platform’s prime customers, this sale is like an annual ceremony. The sale puts up various offers and discounts for those customers who have subscribed to Amazon’s Prime services. Even the subscription carries along with different offers like free and quick delivery, so the sale is just a feather on the cap.
This year, the Prime Day Sale was a two-day affair.
Prime Day 2020
This year, Prime Day Sale in India was a more grand affair than the last years. To begin with, it was the first time that India was hosting the sale. Also, the main target of the sale was to boost small and medium-sized businesses.
Many celebrities and influencers were given the task to promote the sale on their social media handles. This built up the excitement in people and hence, become the biggest two-day promotional event. Also, the wide range promotion registered twice as many customers, as compared to last year, for Prime membership during the sale this year.
Report of the Amazon India Head
In a conversation with ET NOW, Amazon India Head Amit Agarwal divulged some important details about the aftermath of the sale. He mentioned that more than 4000 sellers benefitted around Rs. 10 lakh each and more than 209 sellers became crorepatis. Agarwal also accepts that this sale had been dedicated to the small businesses who looked up to Amazon to keep their businesses running. Orders were pouring in from different pin codes to buy from these small businesses. “Karigar artisans, Saheli women sellers, Launchpad entrepreneurs and Local Shops enjoyed their highest ever day of sales”- Agarwal said.
