The first trailer for Showtime’s The Comey Rule has been released and Donald Trump’s portrayal by the Emmy winner Brendan Gleeson is likely to be the talk of the hour.
Brendan Gleeson is an Irish actor-director. He is the holder of three IFTA Awards and two British Independent Film Awards. He is also a Primetime Emmy Award. There are therefore no doubts that the actor would do justice to president Donald Trump’s role in the series.
The two-part limited series is set to be aired on September 27 and 28 in the US. It is likely to coincide with the forthcoming elections in the US. The show provides an insightful look into the historically turbulent circumstances surrounding a nation’s 2016 presidential election and its aftermath. Instead of delivering a simple and mainstream biopic, the trailer from The Comey Rule offers the audience a plethora of tense and stressed-ridden emotions; as the story about two influential people with contrasting personalities, ethics and loyalties are put on a trajectory of collision.
The plotline of the series centers on the circumstances surrounding the 2016 presidential elections. The characters liberally throw around plenty of terms relevant to the show’s time period. Daniels and Gleeson look good for their parts, particularly the latter, who bears an eerie resemblance to the President of the United States.
The show’s official synopsis read “Jeff Daniels and Brendan Gleeson star as former FBI Director James Comey and President Donald J. Trump in this two-part event series that tells the story of two powerful men, whose strikingly different ethics and loyalties put them on a collision course.”
