Chippewa Correctional Facility reports prisoner takeover of Housing Unit

Chippewa Correctional Facility was endangered to be taken over by its inmates on Sunday. After 24 hours, the prion governing body, MDOC claims that the situation is back under control.

It was all started on Sunday around 10:30 p.m. when three prisoners began fighting. Soon after, the correctional officers were in action to cease the fight. Reportedly, they used tazer to break up the fight. One of the prisoners found injured and was rushed to a nearby hospital. The situation inside the Chippewa Correctional Facility were endangered as the inmates took over it till early morning at 4 a.m. as per the report, they all left their cells and found stationed near the officer’s station.

 

 

MDOC emergency response team was called in aide of officers to bring the situation under control. The officer’s team managed to press the auto-lock in an attempt to confine the prisoners on their cells. It is unclear how many prisoners held inside their cells. Despite the officer’s strenuous effect, the prison was still in the hands of inmates.

MDOC reportedly called U.S. Border Patrol to provide extra-security. They have also ensured that no prisoner was found outside around the perimeter. it was also the State Police who confirmed the same. They have also claimed that they have regained control of the situation.

The reason for the outbreak is now revealed. The prisoners that the man who was taken to the hospital was dead. They were furious and gathered near the officers’ station. The Correctional Facility denied this and stated that the man is in stable condition at the hospital.
