Education ministry secretary says no rethink on postponing JEE and NEET exams

JEE and NEET exams: The education ministry will not rethink on the issue of postponing the JEE and NEET examinations. As per the report of  India Today, Education Ministry secretary says no reconsideration on the ongoing issue about the postpone of JEE (All India Engineering examination) and NEET(All India Medical Examination). According to the sources, the Ministry Of education Secretary just came back from the meeting at the PMO when he revealed this news.

JEE and NEET exams postpone supporters-

Normally the JEE  and NEET schedule time was April. However, this year due to the Corona Virus the exam postponed. Now the central government decided to take the exam. But some of the state government not ready for that because of the rising of Corona Virus cases every day. The joint decision taken by NTA (National Testing Agency) and Centre to conduct the all India Engineering Exam (JEE) and All India Medical Exam (NEET) creates big chaos by several rising voices such as actors, social media influencer; many politicians even Greta Thunberg who is a Swedish environmental activist.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee along with seven other chief ministers of non-BJP states are also determine to go Supreme Court for postponing the JEE and NEET exams.

The government has announced exam dates during such uncertainties. Rail is not working, air transport is not smooth. The decision will harm students during the pandemic,” said West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee.

“I don’t know how they will sit for exams,” she said.

“I have written a letter to the PM. I requested him if the Govt can request SC when students are in serious condition… some of them in depression. GOI can certainly go in for an appeal,” said the CM.

“If law permits, we can discuss this issue. If Punjab CM and Maharashtra CM can take initiative, we can jointly appeal,” suggested Mamata Banerjee.

“We can jointly appeal. SC may say we have already given the verdict. But if the situation is sensitive, of course, they can always give consideration,” she also stated.

“We may also appeal to the SC if the Centre does not intervene. We can do it as a state government,” she said.

On Thursday, August 27th education ministry published a video statement on the ongoing issue of postponing the JEE and NEET matter. However, according to the sources, they won’t change their mind about the entrance exams.

As per today’s report, more than 1million students download their admit cards for JEE and NEET exams.

Challenges-

However, the no of cases of Corona Virus increases every day. So it is not a pleasant environment for examination.

Even some of the states face massive floods and storms such as Assam, North-East, West Bengal, and Bihar due to that student are facing lots of communication problems.  Students can’t reach the exam centre easily.

JEE and NEET exam can help to more student get colleges-

Also, for current scenario students have no clarity about the admission to the professional courses or any other vocational courses. The admission for engineering, medical and some other courses are not started yet because of the postpone of exam dates. This is creating chaos. Many students can’t get a seat in general colleges because of the high cut off percentage. For that equilibrium central announces all the entrance exam dates one by one. Even they are discussing the issues of reopening the school. As per the new report government might reopen schools and other educational institution from September 1 st to November 14th. However, this is for the first fifteen days only for the students of Class ten and twelve. After that, the students of class six to class nine will be a call to attend the class brought back to their respective institute with restricted hours.

 

Date of JEE  and NEET exam-

The Joint Entrance Examination Mains  (All India Engineering Exam) 2020 examination is scheduled between September 1 st to September 6th. Also, the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test ( All Indian Medical Exam) is scheduled on September 13th.
