Technically, Father Of The Bride, part 3 has been in the works for over two decades but will the sequel ever happen? Based on the movie of the same name, the first Father of the Bride film premiered in 1991.
Plot: Father Of The Bride 3
The first news came out in 2014 when Hollywood journalist Nikki Finke reported Father of the Bride 3 was in the production. According to Finke, the third part would focus on a gay marriage with a grown-up Matty Banks marrying the son of a U.S. Navy Seal and would see Steve Martin and Diane Keaton repeat their parts. After that, however, Martin took to twitter to expose the rumor, stating he hadn’t seen a script or presented apart.
Release date: Father Of The Bride 3
There’s no official announcement from the producers of the Father Of The Bride 3; there have been gossips that Disney might reset the original 1991 movie for its brand new launched streaming platform Disney+. While Disney has not yet confirmed the story, the House of Mouse is moving forward with resets of other 1990s assets like The Mighty Ducks and Home Alone, so it merges with the company’s thought.
So, it seems the chances of an upcoming sequel happening are relatively high but whether it’ll be Father Of The Bride 3 or a reboot remains to be seen.
