Finally, after months and months of anticipation, Google finally announced the release of Google Pixel 4a on August 3rd. However, Google ended up teasing its consumers, by giving them a glimpse of Google Pixel 5a, scheduled for 2021. Google just ended up making its loyal consumers more impatient to lay their hands on the newer Pixel phone.
Shift in Attention
The loyal consumers of Google Pixel were eagerly in anticipation of the new Google Pixel 4a range. There was much hype about the three Pixel phones set to launch in a few days- Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a(5G) and the premium pixel 5. All the attention has now, however, shifted to the newer Pixel- Pixel 5a. First noticed by 9to5google’s Dylan Roussel, the latest change in the AOSP code list below gives a slight indication of the upcoming variant of Google Pixel
What to expect from the new Google Pixel?
Even if Google has started work on the new Google Pixel 5a, they have not officially disclosed anything. But the code change in AOSP is enough to suggest that the new Google Pixel might be in the works. Many people believe that as it is launching with Android 11, it is most likely to release by next fall. That makes much sense because the earlier pixel devices were launched at the same time of the year. Except that, the launch of Google Pixel 4a by this fall, ended up getting delayed due to the corona scare. Many are even speculating that Google might release the new Google Pixel halfway through Pixel 5’s launch cycle. This can be true as the same happened with Pixel 3a. But unfortunately, there is not currently much information about how this new Pixel 5a would look or what features it would carry.
But the good news is that Google will definitely hand us a Google Pixel 5a in 2021. Till then, we have to make do with the other three new Pixels that are sure to launch this year. Plus, with all attention turned to Google Pixel 5a, Google is expected to give us the right details soon. Till then, it’s just another long wait of anticipation for the loyal Google consumers.
