A screenshot (also called a screen capture or screen grab) is a digital image of the contents of a computer display so here we will learn How to take screenshots on mac.

There are several ways to take a screenshot on a Mac computer:

  1. The simplest method is to press Command + Shift + 3 on your keyboard. This will take a screenshot of your entire screen and save it to the desktop as a .png file.
  2. To take a screenshot of a specific area of the screen, press Command + Shift + 4 on your keyboard. Your cursor will change to a crosshair, which you can use to select the area you want to capture. When you have selected the desired area, release the mouse or trackpad button to take the screenshot. The screenshot will be saved to the desktop as a .png file.
  3. To take a screenshot of a specific window or menu, press Command + Shift + 4 on your keyboard, then press the Space bar. Your cursor will change to a camera icon. When you move the camera icon over a window or menu, it will be highlighted. Click on the window or menu to take the screenshot. The screenshot will be saved to the desktop as a .png file.
  4. If you want to copy the screenshot to your clipboard instead of saving it to the desktop, add the Control key to any of the above keyboard shortcuts. For example, press Command + Shift + Control + 3 to take a screenshot of the entire screen and copy it to the clipboard.

Note:

The screenshots taken using these methods will be saved to the desktop by default. If you want to change the default location for saving screenshots, you can do so by going to the Screenshots section of the Settings app and selecting a different folder from the Save to pop-up menu.
