Kate Winslet Says She Knows ‘at Least 4’ Actors ‘Hiding Their Sexuality’ Due to Homophobia in Hollywood.
In a Recent interview Kate Winslet has revealed something that no one really thought of. She said there are actors hiding their sexuality because there is a stigma in Hollywood if you are gay you can’t play straight roles. Nowadays, when people are speaking out about their sexuality openly actors are afraid to come out as they are afraid that they will not get the desired role if they do so.
She said, this is the time we should Speak about this. As per her statement there are known and not so known actors who are afraid that their sexuality might Halt their career. Because if they came out as gay getting desired roles will be difficult solely based on the talent.

Men are most affected by this stigma:

In her interview she revealed that men are the most affected one with this ideology than women.
“It’s bad news, Hollywood has to drop that dated crap of, ‘Can he play straight because, apparently, he’s gay?’ ” she stated.
And believed that considering actors for role based on their sexuality should be illegal. Because this profession requires talent and potential rather than anything else. Homophobia in Hollywood Exists and we just can’t really deny that fact.
cannot tell you the number of young actors I know — some well known, some starting out — who are terrified their sexuality will be revealed and that it will stand in the way of their being cast in straight roles,” she said. “Now that’s f***ed up.”
“I’m telling you, A well-known actor has just got an American agent and the agent said, ‘I understand you are bisexual. I wouldn’t publicise that.’ I can think of at least four actors absolutely hiding their sexuality. It’s painful. Because they fear being found out. And that’s what they say. ‘I don’t want to be found out.” She added. Kate winslet is happy that she could bring this topic to the table and discuss it. She played lesbian in movie Ammonite.
