Marvel comic universe phase 5 The Last of Us (2023)

Marvel Phase 5 is quickly approaching. The conclusion of Phase 4 with the release of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will launch in Phase 5, which will begin with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will take us to the Quantum Realm. There will be a tonne more after that as well.

Along with Captain America 4 and a new Daredevil small-screen adventure coming in 2024, this year also brings us Guardians of the Galaxy 3, Loki season 2, and the Wanda Vision spinoff Agatha: Coven of Chaos. Here is a complete guide to Marvel Phase 5, including release dates and the most recent casting news for upcoming motion pictures and television programs.

‘The Last of Us’

In a few days (January 15, 2023) HBO will premiere The Last of Us as part of its most recent attempt to rule Sunday nights. The Last of Us follows smuggler Joel as he leads teenage Ellie across the post-apocalyptic United States and stars Pedro Pascal and upcoming Game of Thrones actress Bella Ramsey.

Thanks to the popularity of its critically acclaimed source material, The Last of Us is one of the most anticipated television programs of the year. It’s also among the geekiest programs of 2023, though it’s far from the only one. These productions, which range from fantasy novel adaptations to comic book concepts, will undoubtedly make 2023 one of the greatest and nerdiest years in recent memory.

Marvel Phase 5 release dates: Everything to come

Up to the summer of 2024, Marvel Phase 5 is jam-packed with movies and television programs. Here are the upcoming events in this phase of the MCU:

  • Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (February 17, 2023, movie)
  • Secret Invasion (Spring 2023, Disney Plus)
  • Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (May 5, 2023, movie)
  • Echo (Summer 2023, Disney Plus)
  • Loki season 2 (Summer 2023, Disney Plus)

5 More Shows to Get Excited About in 2023

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (February 17, 2023)

Ant-Man 3—officially known as Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania—marks the beginning of Marvel Phase 5. Jonathan Majors will play the evil Kang the Conqueror in this multiverse adventure movie (after first appearing as He Who Remains in the Loki finale).

In the movie’s trailer, we see Kathryn Newton as Cassie Lang, Paul Rudd as Scott Lang, Michelle Pfieffer as Janet van Dyne, Evangeline Lily as Hope van Dyne, Michael Douglas as Hank Pym, and they are all dragged into the Quantum Realm where they meet Kang and Bill Murray’s new character, who appears to rule a Quantum city. MODOK will also appear, though it is unknown in what capacity, according to director Peyton Reed.

Secret Invasion (Spring 2023)

Samuel L. Jackson reprises his role as Nick Fury in the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside a very remarkable cast that includes Martin Freeman, Ben Mendelson, Cobie Smulders, Don Cheadle, and Emilia Clarke. The Skrull invasion that is the focus of the Secret Invasion storyline seems to have replaced many superheroes with shape-shifting aliens. This is a significant crossover, maybe the biggest since the Avengers movies.

Guardians of the Galaxy 3 (May 5, 2023)

We may expect an emotional conclusion to the Guardians of the Galaxy saga in the next Guardians sequel. Gamora comes returned as the leader of the Ravagers. While the Comic-Con trailer made it clear that Peter Quill is furious since she still lacks her memory. This is an alternative version of the character from earlier in the Marvel continuity as the main version was slain in Infinity War. Chukwudi Iwuji plays The High Evolutionary, Rocket Racoon’s creator, and it appears that this character’s history is the primary focus of the story.

Echo (Summer 2023)

Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner, who is presently recovering from a serious snowblower accident) and Kate Bishop had a great holiday-themed team-up (Hailee Steinfeld). Alaqua Cox’s character Echo was one of the anti-heroes/bad men that were first featured in that program. The actress plays a character who is deaf. The new Disney Plus series will feature both Kingpin and Daredevil, and I wouldn’t be shocked if Echo is featured in the future Daredevil series as well.

‘Loki’ Season 2 (2023)

With Loki season 2, the God of Mischief returns for more mischief. Along with Owen Wilson and Sophia Di Martino, Tom Hiddleston returns to the role that launched him to fame. Ke Huy Quan, a possible Oscar winner, also joins the cast.

Only that Loki season 2 will begin up where season 1 left off—with He Who Remains dead and the Sacred Timeline fracturing into chaos—is known for certain. Season 2 might have a significant impact on the MCU, particularly as it enters Phase 5 and reaches Avengers: The Kang Dynasty in 2025. The show’s premiere date is currently unknown, however, it is most likely going to be in the summer of 2023.
