The coronavirus situation is worsening day by day with cases rising at an increasing rate. Yesterday itself, within 24 hours, there was an increase of 17000 cases in India, taking the total to 4.9 lakh cases. Also, everyday new guidelines come out regarding whether certain exams will take place or not. Recently only, guidelines came out that the CBSE and ICSE Board Exams for Class 10th and 12th stands cancelled. These were to take place a few days back. Similar decisions come out every day regarding the conduct of the Medical Exams 2020.
RECENT NEWS ON MEDICAL EXAMS 2020.
Cases in Maharashtra are rising at an unprecedented rate. Hence, considering this rise, the Maharashtra government has decided to postpone the Medical Exams 2020 of Post Graduate students pursuing the medical courses. The Maharashtra government has hence forwarded this resolution to the Centre for its approval.
The medical students persuing Post Graduation are helping in the tackling of the coronavirus in the State. Along with the cases of coronavirus, these students are also treating the various cases of monsoon diseases that are coming up every day.
“Hence, we have requested the Centre to postpone their exams or simply declare that they have passed them. But they should deploy them for providing health services”, the Family Welfare Minister of Maharashtra said.
The Health Minister added that the students who are doing internship students should be instead allowed to help the state in handling the coronavirus cases. This will prove to be a great help in increasing the recovery rate and treatment facilities in the State. Also, the cancellation of Medical Exams 2020 is important for the safety and health of the students.
“These students are risking their own lives and that of their family members by working on Covid-19 relief work. The state should not insist on an exam now. Since all other university exams have been called off, professional courses can also follow the same. We should keep in mind the health and safety of students,” said Anant Sharma, parent of MBBS student.

NEWS ABOUT OTHER MEDICAL EXAMS 2020.
The NEET MEDICAL EXAM 2020, according to the recent updates will be held on July 26, 2020. NEET EXAM is the only exam through which students who aspire to get into the medical field can per sue Undergraduate Medical Courses. Students can also per sure dental courses on clearing this exam.
Earlier NEET was scheduled to take place on the 3rd of May. But owing to the coronavirus situation the date for the exam has extended further.
Talking about other MEDICAL EXAMS 2020, the exam for getting admission to AIIMS for postgraduate courses took place on 11th of June. The first round of counselling for the same began almost a week ago. In order to ensure the safety of the students and hassle-free conduct of the exam, various precautions were taken by the Government.
“A communication from Ministry of Health and Family Welfare to State Government/District Authorities for the facilitation of movement of candidates and to consider AIIMS-Entrance Examination as an essential activity has already been sent.”
The admit card for the AIIMS PG MEDICAL EXAMS 2020 had a Barcode in order to ensure touch-free entry at the exam centre. This was necessary owing to the severity of the virus and its spread.
Although, students were not happy considering the short notice of the exam dates and the decision to hold the exam in such a sensitive situation.
The decision of AIIMS to conduct PG entrance exam in such a short duration is totally unjustified and it’ll put students at risk. The pandemic is spreading at a fast rate and in such scenario, it’s foolish to put the lives of medical students in danger.” a student organisation said in a statement.

Although, now that Maharashtra has decided to cancel the Medical Exams 2020 for the Post Graduate students, it is yet to be seen what the Centre decides on the matter. The concern of the Maharashtra government is right in every aspect and so it that of the students. Right now there is a shortage of medical staff due to the increasing number of cases. These students can really provide a helping hand intending to those who need it at this hour. The health of the students themselves and their need during such testing times must be prioritised over the exams.
