Mike Trout Rookie Card broke all records in the sports cards market. A rare Rookie Card of Mike Trout, sold for $3.93million at an auction broke all records.
On Saturday a rare rookie card of the Los Angeles Angels Superstar Mike Trout broke all the card selling. Dave Oancea or the “Vegas Dave”, originally got the card in his possession in 2018 for $400,000. He purchased the card from a seller in Taiwan over eBay. In an interview early this month with Reuters, Dave said,
“A lot of people had a lot of negative things to say, that I was crazy, you know, You could have bought a house,’ ‘You could have bought this and that,’ that I’m stupid and it’s a piece of cardboard.”
Goldin Auctions on Sunday announced the rookie card breaking the records. However, the person who bought the card is still under the covers. The identity of the buyer is not made public yet. The founder of the Goldin Auctions, Ken Goldin said,
“This event was somewhat of a perfect storm as we had a remarkable collection of historic memorabilia supported by incredible marketing and publicity during a great market for sports collectibles,”
Earlier the opening bid for the auction of record breaking card was $1 Million. Trout card is one of a kind. Also, it features a serial no. 1/1. It is Mint 9 grade, by the Beckett Grading Service. As well as the card is in its mint condition. Before the Trout card, the T206 Honus Wagner card held record. It had a record amount of $3.12 million, in the year 2016, September.
