This year, because of the unprecedented Coronavirus situation, the NIRF Ranking release got delayed. But there is no need to wait anymore. Because the NIRF Ranking 2020 is finally out!
Every year during the new admission time, NIRF Rankings are one of the most common searches. This is because students, apart from word of mouth, usually depend on NIRF Rankings of institutes. And based on the ranking, they fill the choice list of colleges for admission.
HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank announced on Twitter on June 10 that the NIRF Rankings 2020 would be announced on June 11 at 12 noon.NIRF RANKING 2020
As compared to the previous year, not many changes have been made in the ranking. But in the category of overall ranking, IIT Madras is once again coined as the best institute. And once again, IISc Bangalore has kept its position as the best university. Miranda House is also the best college this year too.
As per the different fields, the following are the best institutes of 2020:
– The best Architecture institute : Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur
– The best engineering institute : Indian Institute of Technology Madras
– The Best Management institute : Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad
– Best Pharmacy institute : Jamia Hamdard University
– The best medical institute : All India Institute of Medical Sciences Delhi
– Best law institute : National Law School of India University Bengaluru
– Best Dental institute : Maulana Azad Institute of Dental Sciences
And the top 5 overall best institutes are as follows:
1. The Indian Institute of Technology Madras, Chennai
2. Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru
3. Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi
4. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Mumbai
5. Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Kharagpur
The top 5 overall best universities are as follows:
1. Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru
2. Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi
3. Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi
4. Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore
5. Jadavpur University, Kolkata
ABOUT NIRF
NIRF stands for National Institutional Ranking Framework. And the Honorable Minister for Human Resource development had launched this system on 29th September 2015. This framework was developed because it helped rank institutions across the nation under various factors. And these factors were “Teaching, Learning and Resources,” “Graduation Outcomes,” “Research and Professional Practices,” “Outreach and Diversity,” and “Perception”.

The overall parameters and their sub-parameters were –
1. Teaching, Learning & Resources
– Utilization of financial resources
– Student strength, including students doing Doctorate
– Faculty-student ratio, with major focus on the permanent faculty
– Combined grade for Faculty with PhD and Experience
2. Graduation Outcomes
– Metric for Number of Graduated PhD students
– Metric for University Examinations
3. Research and Professional Practice
– Published and Granted IPR and Patents
– Combined grade for Publications
– Combined grade for Quality of Publications (QP)
– Footprint of Projects and Professional Practice
4. Outreach and Diversity
– Region Diversity: Percentage of students from other states or countries
– Women Diversity: Percentage of females
– Services for physically challenged students
– Economically and socially challenged students
– Perception Ranking

– Academic Peers and Employers

PREVIOUS YEAR’S NIRF RANKING
Last year, that is in 2019, the NIRF Rank list was released on April 8. IIT Madras was announced as the best institute of India overall. But IISc Bangalore retained its spot as the best University. And on the other hand, the title of best college in the country was given to Miranda House.
