After much anticipation, the movie, “One and Only Ivan” is out. Despite, its high profile line up, the movie did not leave a mark on its audience.
The movie, “The One and Only Ivan” released on the streaming platform, Disney+. the movie took to the digital platform owing to the current situation of the pandemic. The movie is based on the award winning novel by Katherine Applegate. The narrative of the movie is too soothing. Well, soothing to a point that it becomes monotonous. The animals in the movie are too much all about their goodness. The direction goes way beyond gentle. Even the scenes in the book which had an impact, the movie went too gentle on those scenes as well. The movie is full with the traits of empathy which people hope will have a great impact on the young generation.
Storyline revolves around a mall, Big Top Mall and one video arcade where the protagonist of the movie, Ivan, the gorilla. He lives with his friends. His character is based on a real life gorilla who could paint. The Gorilla became a huge sensation after his ability to paint came to the forefront.
The movie starts with Ivan, the Gorilla bored with his circus life. After people discover his talent of painting, he becomes very famous. However, he decides to leave for his natural habitat, the wild. The movie has high profile cast of Sam Rockwell, Angelina Jolie and Helen Mirren. The three artists are Oscar winners. The Oscar nominee, Bryan Cranston, plays the role of the ring master.
