Are you a fan of classic movies or to be in particular, ‘Rashomon’ movie? Here’s good news for you then. Finally, ‘Rashomon’ TV series lands on HBO Max.
The planning to adapt Akira Kurosawa’s psychological thriller ‘Rashomon’ as a TV series begins two years earlier. It finally gets its writers and production house.
As per the announcements, Billy Ray and Virgil Williams will pen the script for the series. They are both renowned scriptwriters and are currently documenting the script for ‘Rashomon” TV series. Amblin Television will be the developer of the series. Furthermore, the script of the ‘Rashomon’ TV series will not be the direct adoption of the movie but will be almost of the same storyline. The TV script will change keeping in mind today’s demands and needs.
About ‘Rashomon’ movie
Rashomon, released on August 25, 1950, is a Japanese movie based on a samurai’s psychic murder in the city named Rashomon. The plot of the movie revolves around the findings of the murder case and the circumstances of the murder.
The cast of the movie was Toshiro Mifune, Machiko Kyo, Masayuki Mori and Takashi Shimura. It was the first Japanese movie which gained international recognition and won many awards. It originally was based on a short story written by Ryunosuke Akutagawa. Moreover, the movie got Oscars after two years of its release.
About ‘Rashomon’ TV Series
The planning of the series inspired by the movie was under work since late 2018. Hisao Kurosawa, son of Akira Kurosawa, in an interview, said that “I’m delighted that dad’s movie will be available for today’s generation and am very excited to see the review of the series”. He also added, “I,m very excited to work with HBO Max and Amblin”. The writers on the other hand said that they will try keeping the magic of the movie alive and this will be their tribute to Kurosawa.
