Thailand has decided free condoms ahead of Valentine’s day

Introduction

Thailand has decided to distribute 95 million free condoms ahead of Valentine’s day.

Thai government has decided to give free condoms to prevent sexually transmitted diseases.

The move will help to promote safe sex and control sexually transmitted diseases that happen because of unsafe sex.

The move will start getting effective from February 1 2023, Wednesday.

Condom sizes

Thai government spokesperson – Rachada Dhnadirek confirmed that four different sizes of condoms will be given.

Universal health care card holders will receive 10 packets of condoms per week for a year.

They can collect the packets of condoms from pharmacies and primary care units of hospitals across the country.

Reasons for distributing free condoms

The decision for taking free condoms in Thailand will help to prevent STDs like syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, cervical cancer, HIV, Aids.

The National Health Security Office, Thailand has also confirmed that condoms will come up with lubricating gel.

Those who want to receive free condoms will have to register themselves on a mobile application called Paotang.

They can choose their desired drug store from where they want to receive their condoms.

Thai government believes that distribution of 95 million free condoms will definitely help to prevent large unwanted pregnancies in the country.

According to various reports, Thailand has seen a massive increase in STDs in recent years. Out of the STDs , half of the STDs are syphilis and gonorrhea.

The age group affected with diseases are mainly between 15 and 19, and 20 and 24, making it very concerning public health issue in the country.

Rachada expects that distribution of  free condoms ahead of Valentine’s day will help to prevent diseases and promote public health in the country.

Universal healthcare scheme

According to official data by the Thai government, out of 1000 girls , 24.4 girls gave birth between 15 to 19 years, a very alarming concern.

This will help to control those unwanted pregnancies and many STDs in the country. And they can receive condoms under universal healthcare cards, known as Gold Cards.

 

They just have to show the card to the registered stores where they w

ant to receive the packets of condoms.
