The series is based on Candace Bushnell’s book. It is an HBO original series with six seasons, and it ran as a half-hour show between 1998-2004. The show is about four friends ( Sarah, Cynthia, Kristin, Cattrall) who work in New York City, as they deal with relationships. The show would be the latest HBO series to be revived after it was reported that a True Blood reboot is also on its way. The Carrie Diaries is the prequel series. The reports about the reboot were first confirmed by Page Six and later it was reaffirmed by TVLine. However, the HBO representative has not made any comment about the details.
Page Six reported that a limited series of Sex and the City is in progress. The newspaper revealed the cast and confirmed that three of the four original stars of the show will reprise their roles. Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis will return on the show. However, the only main lead not set to join is Kim Cattrall. She played the role of Samantha in six seasons of Sex and the City. The creators want to bring her back, but she is firm on her decision to never come back on the show. Cattrall was also a producer on the HBO show. Cattrall spoke openly in 2017 about her disinterest in the show. There were also rumours about the tensions between her and Parker. However, she tried to defuse it by saying that she is not sure if she could imagine doing another movie without her.
Irrespective of everything the reboot is on the cards. It is for us to see if the writing would be as phenomenal with funniest lines, as it was in all the seasons.
