Introduction
These are indeed challenging and stressful times for everybody. It has been 4 months that we are stuck in our homes now. I see that people have reached their breaking point already. Its very natural to not be positive at this time, when all we hear about is the increasing number of COVID-19 cases, people watching their loved ones dying.
But, I also feel that nobody can influence our thought process unless we want it to be influenced. We must try and make efforts to keep sane in this not so sane situation and environment.
Also, we quite well know that we have no control over the situation, but we can definitely choose how we react to it. We need to clear our head-space with all the negativity and indulge in things that would keep up our positivity in this quarantine.
Few tips that might help you keep positive and busy
Make a fixed routine
Take a good-sound sleep: Go to bed at an appropriate time, get up at the same time. Do not jeopardize with your sleep. Try and inculcate healthy sleep habits.
Pray or Meditate
It is very important to start your day on a positive note. Praying helps you to be hopeful and meditation helps you ditch stress. Incorporating this in your routine will help you find your inner peace.
Exercise / Yoga
Now that we are confined to our four walls, munching and munching all day long, it is very necessary to stretch our muscles. This will keep us fit and active the entire day.
Show gratitude
We have so much to be thankful for. Value and treasure your relationships and closed ones, people who love and care about you. Be thankful for being close to your family at this time, when many people out there are struggling to get to their loved ones. Be thankful that you are still breathing, while many are fighting for their lives.
Self-reflect, keep track of your thoughts
Keep a journal, put your thoughts down day by day of what you did and how you felt. It helps to be in tune with your thought process and also monitor it. Be your own hero!
Talk it out
There are tough times for almost everybody and it is completely OK to not feel good or Okay at this time. But what is important here is the fact that you talk it out. Seek help from a therapist through online chats or video counselling. You have to understand the importance of a good mental health and not compromise with it at any point in your life.
Connect with your friends, relatives, colleagues
Write letters, notes and surprise your folks. Make sure to stay connected with them through facetime, skype etc since it is not possible to see them in person. Check on them and see how they are doing, regularly.
Share your positivity
Times like these have also taught us to take care of each other. It is very important to look out for one another and share your positivity and tips with people who might need some help. That surely makes us a better human being.
Be of service / Volunteer
Consider donating in these difficult times. Shelling out a couple of hundreds might not affect us, but it might make a difference in someone else’s life. This will make people believe in mankind and will also help them keep positive in this quarantine.
Look after stray animals
animals too are facing a very hard time since everybody is in a lockdown. The survival of the strays depends on the bits offered by people in parks, outside restaurants etc. But due to this pandemic, I feel they are suffering the most. Make sure you keep enough food and water outside your gate every day, so that they do not die of starvation.
Prepare a To-do list
Make a list of all the things you would want to do post quarantine. The places you would want to visit, the restaurants you’d want to try out etc. This will help you catch up with things you have missed out on during this time.
Boost your immune system
Work on your immune system by eating healthy and eating right. This is so important for us to make it through, in times like these. Also, we don’t know what future has in store for us. Let’s prepare ourselves for it!
Pamper yourselves
Indulge in skin care routines. Make DIY masks for face at home. Spa your hair. Pour yourself a nice bath, bring out those expensive bath salts you were saving for later and treat yourself to some cherished me-time by lighting scented candles, playing soothing music and for a moment, forgetting about the outside world!
De-Clutter
Manage your wardrobe, toss clothes you no longer wear, old cosmetics and toiletries. Minimize! In addition, clean and organise your work space area. Unorganized spaces attract negative energies and I am sure the thing will help you feel positive this quarantine.
Try new things
Pursue your hobbies. Learn new things, can be a language, cooking, gardening, knitting, singing etc. Be productive even while enjoying and having fun.
Get creative
Boredom can prove to be a catalyst for innovation and all things creative! You can move your furniture, arrange it in a different way to provide a new landscape. May be design the interiors of your house. Create your own art pieces, paint. Let you inner Michelangelo out!
Create new styles
Put your clothes on and try styling them differently, so that you are totally ready to rock and roll like a queen post quarantine. This way, you also save on money on new clothes and break the monotony as well.
Indulge in writing / reading
Ready poetry, books that you for so long wanted to but could not. Try your hand in writing as well, may be a novel, short stories etc. Who knows, you might have a hidden genius in you. Use this time to identify and acknowledge your skills and abilities.
Netflix and chill
You have super duper amazing things to watch on Netflix. Watch documentaries, series and then recommend those to your friends as well. Keep yourselves and everyone around entertained!
Listen to music
Get out of your enclosed spaces, take a walk or may be sit on the roof in the evening while listening to music. Appreciate nature and music at the same time. The thing will make you feel happy and positive in this quarantine.
Add value
Intern or may be join any free course of your choice and update yourself. Besides having a great time, it is also very important to constantly add value on your resume. This will help you thrive in the cut throat competition post quarantine.
Conclusion
In our lifetime, we have not yet witnessed anything like the global Coronavirus pandemic. Currently, most of the attention is rightfully directed at dealing with the cure and prevention of the disease and spreading awareness about the same.
At the same time, a large portion of the world is under lockdown mode, whether enforced or voluntary. It is very important for us all to keep ourselves on track, be positive and also spread positivity all around in this quarantine. I am sure people can easily follow these things and keep positive in this quarantine.
