Location of incident
The incident happened on October 30 as the Biden bus was traveling from San Antonio to Austin to urge supporters to cast last minute early voting ballots.
A Biden campaign official told CNN that the motorists attempted to slow down the bus and run it off the road. People began using vulgar language and then blocked the entire Biden entourage.
At one point, the Trump train slowed the bus down to about 20 mph on the busy Interstate 35, a campaign official told CNN. The vehicles slowed down in the middle of the highway and tried to bring the bus to a stop. They hoped to eventually force the bus off the road.
While Joe Biden and running mate Kamala Harris were not on the bus, Wendy Davis was on the bus. The former Texas State Representative is challenging Republican Chip Roy.
Repsonses
On Halloween Night, President Donald Trump appeared to embrace the dangerous actions by some of his supporters. He tweeted a video of the caravan surrounding the bus with the caption “I LOVE TEXAS!” He falsely claimed that his supporters were protecting the bus.
Biden spokesperson Bill Russo responded by pointing out that Trump did not call for shuttle busses at a Pennsylvania rally. This forced attendees to walk back to their vehicles in deplorable conditions.
The type of behavior by Trump supporters trying to force a Biden campaign bus off the road is extremely reckless. By intentionally slowing down to neighborhood speeds, a massive pileup could have ensued. Yet, as always, Trump condoned the actions.
