Shakuntala Devi, a new movie of the talented actress Vidya Balan, based on the life of the maths genius, will release tomorrow(July 15). The National award winner took it to her Twitter account to share the exciting news with her fans. A short teaser was released giving a glimpse of the first look poster revealed earlier. Vidya Balan is donning an avatar similar to the real-life character where she is seen in a bob haircut, clad in a red-colored saree, and with a proud smile. The teaser says, “Maths has no rules, only magic!”
The film is a biopic on the world-famous Indian maths genius Shakuntala Devi who was nicknamed as Human-Computer.
The screenplay for Shakuntala Devi’s biographical film is written together by Anu Menon and Nayanika Mahtani, and dialogues are by Ishita Moitra. Film’s narration is done by Shah Rukh Khan. The extended cast includes Jisshu Sengupta, Sanya Malhotra, and Ami Sadh. Also, the venture is jointly produced by Sony Pictures Network India and Vikram Malhotra under his banner Abundantia Entertainment.
The film is directed by Anu Menon. Her previous directorial Waiting received critical acclaim when premiered at Dubai International Film Festival. It was also screened at the London Asian Film Festival where she won the best director award.
Shakuntala Devi was originally planned to be released in theatres on May 8th. However, it was postponed due to the sudden outbreak of coronavirus. Nevertheless, the makers decided to release it on the OTT platform.
The movie will be finally premiered worldwide on Amazon Prime on July 31st.
