Dil Bechara is based on the book ‘The Fault In Our Stars’ written by John Greene. The novel has already been adapted into a movie by Hollywood by the same name. In the Hindi adaptation, the story revolves around the two main characters who have cancer and fall in love. Earlier the Dil Bechara trailer had broken a record on youtube by getting 10 million likes.
The Movie is the directorial debut of Mukesh Chhabra. And, also stars Saif Ali Khan, Sahil Vaid, SAswata Chatterjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Milind Gunaji and Javed Jaffery. The music is by A.R Rehman.
Sushant Singh Rajput started his acting career with television serials. His first serial was Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil followed by his much loved serial Pavitra Rishta. The serial also starred Anita Lokhande who was in a relationship with Sushant for 6 years. One day before the premiere of the movie she posted a picture of diya with the message “”HOPE, PRAYERS AND STRENGTH !!! Keep smiling…wherever you are.”
Sushant made his movie debut with the movie Kai Po Che. Critic Rajeev Masand wrote: “….The actor has an indescribable presence and it’s clear from his confidence and distinct likeability that a star is born.” He has also starred in Shudh Desi Romance, Byomkesh Bakshi and PK. He received critical acclaim for his movie MS Dhoni: An untold story. The movie was also a box office hit. He also starred in Kedarnath and Chhichore which were both box office hits.
Sushant was born in Purnia district of Patna. In 2002 his mother died and in the same year the family moved to Delhi. Sushant was a brilliant student from the beginning and won many national physics Olympiads. As per the actor he secured the 7th rank in the DCE exam in 2003. While he was in college he started participating in theatre and dance workshops. Because of his inclination towards the performing arts, he was not able to continue with his studies and left college after the 3rd year. The rest is history as we all know.
The prolific actor was found hanging in his apartment on June 14th this year. Since then the media has gone in a frenzy trying to find the cause of his death, which apparently is a suicide. It is said that the actor was in depression and was on anti depressants. No foul play in Sushant’s death was reported by the Maharashtra police. However, there are conspiracy theories doing the round that his death was not a suicide. Rhea Chakraborty, Sushant’s alleged girlfriend is asking for a CBI probe.
However, the Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh has denied a CBI probe, saying every aspect of teh case is being probes along with professional rivalry. On July 22, the Twitter hashtag #Candle4SSR was trending with one million tweets from Rajput’s fans all over the world demanding a CBI investigation.
It is said that Sushant Singh Rajput was not given much attention in parties, events and film promotions. In the promotion of the movie Kedarnath, he was completely sidelined, as all attention went to Sara Ali Khan. In Raabta as well the same story was repeated as all the focus was on Kriti Sanon in various promotions. He faced blatant discrimination in Bollywood functions and other parties too.
The Mumbai police has interviewed 41 people, out of which 5 said that he was depressed. The film industry is rife with the insider-outsider debate. It is being said that wards of film stars and directors are born with a silver spoon and get privileged treatment. They don’t have to struggle like others have to. The stage is set for all the drama and would probably make a good movie too. However, we should not forget that this is real life. We are talking about the death of a real person here.
Sushant Singh Rajput was a good actor, no denying that fact. He gave us some good and memorable movies to watch. His portrayal of Mahender Singh Dhoni is etched in my mind. His Kedarnath songs and acting still haunt me. We can all jump into this slugfest, but the reality doesn’t change that a 34 year old talented actor is no more with us today. No amount of jibes, theories can change that. Life is a precious gift given to us by God and in my opinion, whatever the circumstances, we have no right to take it. However, we should try and understand the what was the actor’s plight and pray that his soul rests in peace.
