A accident at M53 Southbound caused serious injuries to a motorist. This incident took place between junction 4 and junction 5. Roads were blocked for investigation. The collision happened at around 9 am today i.e., 16 August.

North West police reached the spot and closed the road til 9:30. Ambulance reached the same time and examined the victim. The accident spot was being investigated.

The Carriageway was completely closed. The traffic was taken off at Junction 4. The people stuck in the traffic were instructed to wait until further updates. The injured driver was driven to the hospital and treated.

Diversion.
The investigation of the scene took long past afternoon. Hence diversion was provided to the people stuck in the queue. The diversion details are as follow:
Follow the hollow diamond diversion symbol and take the exit the M53 southbound at J4. Take the third exit onto the B5151 southbound. Travel on the B5151 for under 4 miles, to the junction with the B5133. Turn left onto the B5133, then continue for just over 2.5 miles. Turn right onto the A41, and continue for a further 0.5 miles, to the junction with the M53 J5. Take the third exit and rejoin the M53 southbound. There is approx. 2.5 miles of congestion on approach to the closure at J4. Please add an extra 30 minutes on to your journey time. – Highway Englands.

Reopening of the Road.
The North West Motorway Police tweeted about the reopen of the Carriageway at around 6:35 pm. The vehicle was recovered by the police. The total process of removing all the obstacles would take some time. The road will be accessible to the public very soon.

Highways England will now start to take the cones in and lift the closures.
