The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has collaborated with Facebook. Further, Both the organisations have launched a comprehensive curriculum on Digital Safety and Online Well Being and Augmented Reality (AR).
The Board along with the social media Platform has taken the initiative to start training programmes. Hence, Augmented Reality Training Programmes for teachers, and Digital Safety Training programmes for students.
The registration for the training programme has started on July 06, 2020. The last date for registration is July 20, 2020. CBSE and Facebook offer all the training programs on Digital safety and Augmented reality free of cost. However, this will apply to the first phase (From August to November 2020) for affiliated schools.
Further, Each of the programs will have 10000 seats each for teachers and students. The teachers’ program would commence on August 10, 2020, and students program from August 6, 2020, onwards.
Augmented Reality Program initiated by CBSE and Facebook
Introduction
School of Innovation from Facebook focuses on upskilling participants on the groundbreaking technology of the future, Augmented Reality. The course content introduces fundamentals of Augmented Reality and captures ways to utilize Facebook’s software, Spark AR Studio, to create augmented reality experiences.
The objective of the program is to give participants an opportunity and platform to learn how to conceptualize, create and brand their own AR experiences. Participants will learn how to use Spark AR Studio and publish experiences on Facebook thereby becoming a part of the Spark AR ecosystem.

Eligibility
All interested teachers and school principals can participate in this program. Following are the eligibility requirements :
- Participants should have access to a computer system/ laptop with Windows 10 and above installed.
- They should have a Facebook developer account (Footnote: How to create a developer account).
- In addition, participants should have access to smartphone.
- Most importantly, they should have access to internet.
Batch Information
The training program, which is being launched by CBSE and Facebook, will happen in 2 batches. Participants will be informed via email about the next steps if they are selected for the course.
- First Batch: 1600 teachers
- Second Batch: 8400 teachers
Certification
CBSE and Facebook will provide an online certificate of completion to participants who successfully complete AR by School of Innovation from the Facebook program.

- Selected candidates Participants will receive an introductory email by: 3rd August 2020
- First batch start date: August 10, 2020
- First batch completion date: September 7, 2020

Digital Safety Program: CBSE and Facebook Collaboration
Introduction
- CBSE, in collaboration with Facebook, has launched the Digital Safety Program. It is a training program led by CSR (Centre for Social Research) as a training partner.
- Participants will explore the essentials of how to communicate responsibly online, how to identify and respond to threats and harassment, and the tools with which they can empower themselves to stay safe and secure online.
- This curriculum will also enable students to explore good digital habits that can support their online well-being and keep their online experience healthy and happy.
- They will also explore misinformation and accountability, especially in the midst of the pandemic, and how misinformation contributes to the spread of panic and anxiety.
- Further, this program will help students differentiate various kinds of information available on digital platforms and explore options available to identity misinformation, report and reduce its spread.
Instagram Toolkit for Teens: Building Healthy Digital Habits
- This toolkit is a collaboration between Instagram and YLAC, and The Jed Foundation (JED). This will encourage our community to be mindful of how time online impacts their emotional well being,
- In this workshop, experts will share some tips and tools that can improve their experience, and connect you with resources for further thought and discussion.
- Further, this is a toolkit for educators and parents and includes a lesson plan for a workshop that can be facilitated by educators or parents.
- Most importantly, this lesson plan will primarily cover mental and emotional well-being and will also include aspects such as bullying, hate speech and misinformation as relevant sub-themes for the Indian context.

CBSE and Facebook have collaborated and the important dates for the digital safety program are as follows:
- Application start date: July 06, 2020
- Application end date: On a rolling basis
- Selected candidates will receive an email by July 30, 2020
- Session commencement date: August 06, 2020
NOTE – From August 06, 2020, onwards, sessions will be offered daily from Monday to Friday
- Digital Safety & Online Well-Being: 11:30 am -1:00 pm
- Instagram Toolkit for Teens: 2:30 pm – 4:00 pm
- Session Time (each): 1.5 hours
How to register?
Teacher/School Session Registration: Interested schools/ teachers can request a time slot for the training. different schools can register their students. They need to fill the registration form.
Direct Student Registration: Interested students can sign up independently and will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis depending on availability of slots in each session.
