China has invented the computer that is comparable to the human brain and contains around 100 billion neurons. This high tech is the first of its kind and was developed in east China’s Zhejiang Province. This new brain-like computer was jointly introduced by Zhejiang University and Zhejiang Lab as Darwin Mouse. One of the reasons behind this may be that the device has 792 brains like Darwin chips. Also, the mouse part is derived from the similarity that it has around 100 billion synapses and can support up to 120 million spiking Neurons the exact number of neurons in the brain of a mouse.
The power consumption of Darwin Mouse lies between 350-500 watts only. The researchers have stated that this Brain-like computer basically uses Software and Hardware devices to stimulate the network of neurons and give it Artificial intelligence like qualities. Also, this high tech device is an important and innovative solution to solve complex computing problems.
Specifications of Brain-Like Computer
In the meantime, the researchers also designed an operating system specifically designed for Darwin Mouse. It supports the brain like functions of the computer. This operating system Darwin OS realizes functions such as scheduling and supports the function of a brain-like computer.
The computer has great abilities and has been discovered to perform brilliant intelligent tasks like enabling multiple robots to collaborate and work together to perform rescue missions, providing faster tools for scientific research. Other than this it also achieved “Mind Typing” by decoding EEG signals.
“By simulating the human brain, we will be able to understand the working principles of different parts of the brain, which will help cure certain brain diseases that otherwise cannot be diagnosed through biomedical approaches,” said Pan. “In the future, brain-like computers will have broader application prospects including three major areas of artificial intelligence, brain science, and brain diseases.”
This Brain-like computer is the latest feat achieved in the field of Artificial Intelligence. Let us see what is in store for us in the future.
