It is a Japanese light novel series that was written by Shōgo Kinugasa which possesses a total of 15 volumes and is also illustrated by Shunsaku Tomose. As of July 2020, twelve volumes and three short volumes have been released. Seven Seas Entertainment has licensed the series.
A manga adaptation by Yuyu Ichino was created and began on January 27, 2016 in Media Factory’s Monthly Comic Alive. Later on, from July through September 2017 an anime television series aired as an adaptation by Lerche.
The first season came out for the first time on July 12, 2017, and had ended on September 27, 2017. Along with 12 episodes.

According to an article on the biography of Shōgo Kinugasa, published by Fandom:
“Shōgo Kinugasa is a Japanese game scenario writer and novelist. He is the creator of Yōkoso Jitsuryoku Shijō Shugi no Kyōshitsu e series.”

The plot of the Classroom of the Elite
The series mainly focusses on a quiet and introverted boy who belongs to the D-class named Kiyotaka Ayanokoji.
The story takes place in the not too distant future. As the Japanese government had established a school that’s called, the Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing School. As they are highly dedicated to instruct a future generation of people that will support the country in future times. In order to carefully mimic real life the students that are involved are given a high degree of freedom.
The stories perception is that of Kiyotaka Ayanokōji. He is found to be that of a quiet and unassuming boy. He also struggles and is not good at making friends and would rather be restrictive, introverted and keep his distance. The school has certain classes and there is one that is labeled the D class, to which the school “dumps its inferior student.” Kiyotaka
Ayanokōji had been careless in his entrance as he became a student of this “D class.”
Although, after he meets other students namely, Suzune Horikita and Kikyō Kushida, his situation begins to change.
Anticipation of ‘Classroom of the Elite: Season 2’

“It as all of the clichés of your high school anime. You have a monotone main character, a tsundere girl, the popular girl, and the non-existence of parents. Also, it as a similar yet fantastic atmosphere to season 1 of My Teen Romantic Comedy SNAFU, another great show. There is a twist to the show though.”
“The main character might talk awkwardly, but he is observant, thoughtful, highly apathetic/pessimistic, yet at the same time wants to make friends. The tsundere girl has an insecurity issue, which she makes up for by isolating herself from everyone else. Unlike a typical tsundere character who is usually just violent or a narcissist.”
