Bihar government decided to impose a complete lockdown in the state from July 16-31 through a fresh order today. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar announced the news. A high- level cabinet meeting was held under Chief Secretary Deepak Kumar and the announcement was made later following this. The official order for lockdown was issued by the Bihar Government’s Home Department today. The precautious measure was taken as there is an alarming rise in the number of Covid-19 patients in the state.

According to the Minister, guidelines are being prepared. As per the available information, farming and construction-related activities are allowed. All offices are to remain closed apart from those with exceptions. Shops, Malls, and religious places will also remain closed. Also, no religious congregations will be allowed. Schools and Colleges will also remain shut. However, train and flight services will continue.
Shops including ration shops, groceries, and other essentials will remain open. Nevertheless, home delivery is being encouraged by the authorities to minimize travel. Taxis and rickshaws can function. And also, bank services will be available during the lockdown period.
According to the State Health Department, around 1500 new positive cases were reported in Bihar.
