Disney World opens its gates, with virus numbers rising. However, that did not seem to stop thousands of visitors from turning up in facemasks as the park opened. Those Disney World did reopen at 9 AM this morning July 11, 2020 not all the parks were available to visit. Disney World has four major theme parks however only to who were open to visitors the Magic Kingdom and the animal. However, the other two Epcot and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are scheduled to reopen on Wednesday July 15, 2000. Given the turnout and general success of today’s reopening before reopening appears to still be on schedule.
Changes
Disney World opens also marks the first attempt of a major theme park to reopen during the coronavirus pandemic. As such there have been changes both in the day-to-day running of the park and the attractions available to visitors. The Disney World staff is enforcing social distancing and all the procedures that go along with it. This includes making sure every visitor as their temperature check and is wearing a mask. The same holds true for the Disney World employees who kept a watchful eye on the visitors. Reports also indicate that the part was almost a cerebral experience. The longest wait for most writers only five minutes and families were leisurely walking between lines instead of running.
Additionally, character actions were limited to a distance and attractions such as dressing up like a Disney princess were closed. The final change from the norm in Disney World opens was the lack of any fireworks or parades. These two beloved events have been canceled in Disney World for the foreseeable future. The Disney Corporation has faced many setbacks during the coronavirus pandemic. The current situation with most of its 14 theme parks closed and box office numbers at a standstill is different. Definitely a far cry from last year where Disney World welcomed 21 million visitors in 2019. Yet despite all the changes today’s visitors expressed variations of the same theme joy and hope. Even as the coronavirus continues to ravage the world, Disney World opens has reinvigorated many people.
