Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness: Estimated Release Date, Cast, and More

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness will be arriving in theaters soon, We all knew Marvel’s phase 4 was coming, but in times like these it feels like we are somewhat unprepared for it. So much about the world currently, and the Marvel world we are seeing has changed, that it feels a bit like brushing teeth after drinking orange juice.

The next installment to be arriving in the series will feature Doctor Strange with his returning actor Benedict Cumberbatch. This solo acting role in a Marvel movie will be a second occurrence. However, things might not be as smoothly sailing as the first movie.

For one thing, the original director, Scott Derrickson, has left the scene. He left under “creative differences.” This wound was placed on the project back in January 2020. However, he’s remained on the team as an executive producer. Although, not too many people are in despair about this, because the next director has them excited. The original Spider-Man director Sam Rami has taken over. And what’s more, Michael Waldron has taken on as the head writer. If you don’t remember, he was also the head writer for the movie Loki.

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness

Originally, this movie was set to release May 7th 2021. However, it was pushed back to November of 2021 due to Black Widow’s delay. And of course, everything has been delayed in the entertainment industry as of now. Additionally, another huge delay was enacted because of the Spider-Man movie delay, causing Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness to be pushed to November 2021. So we’re still a year out, but that’s okay.

Who will be in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness?

Obviously, Benedict Cumberbatch is going to return as Strange. He’ll be met with some familiar faces. Chiwetel Ejiofor has confirmed as of June that he’ll be back in this movie. He’ll be a baddie in this one. And Scarlet Witch is also confirmed to be coming back in this movie, as a agent of chaos. Many fans have had theories that Rachel McAdams would return as a love interest. This theory was recently confirmed.

A fan favorite from the comics, Xochitl Gomez will be joining this movie as America Chavez.

What’s the plot of Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness?

Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness

Many in the production team have mentioned that this MCU movie will be a tad different from the others. Derrickson is gone yes, but he was still involved enough to spit some facts about it at the recent ComicCon. In addition to this being, as he described “the first scary MCU film” it is also rated PG-13.

“This twist in horror will have people gripped… We’ll be going back to trying to destroy him a bit,” he said.

The synopsis reads as: “After the events of Avengers: Endgame, Dr Stephen Strange continues his research on the Time Stone. But an old friend-turned-enemy puts an end to his plans and causes Strange to unleash unspeakable evil.”

The events of the Disney+ show will lead directly to Doctor Strange. Scarlet Witch comes to him for help. This is true especially since the show has been moved forward in release date. There is also a connection from this movie to Loki. However, fans aren’t holding out for Loki to actually appear in this movie.

It has been revealed that, if you really want to understand Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, you might want to take a look at both shows. Luckily, we’ll have about a year and some change to do so, with all these wonderful delays.

“These episodes will intersect with the movies in a very big way. It’s a totally new form of storytelling that we get to play with and explore,” Feige explained in an interview.

If the film does start filming before we ring in the new year, then we can hope to see a trailer at the 2021 ComicCon.
