Doctors say, Air pollution from the wildfires can make people more vulnerable to coronavirus

While viewing the wildfires in California, doctors have assessed that pollution can make people vulnerable to the Corona Virus. According to Dr. Brad Spellberg, CMO Los Angles County,” Multiple studies have shown a correlation between higher levels of pollution in the air and greater spread and severity of COVID-19 cases”

He also started several other studies in China, Italy, the US. All of these have confirmed that Exposure of lung tissue to pollution can increase the chances of getting infected.

As per Dr. Rekha Murthy, a disease specialist and VP of Medical affairs in Cedars Hospital, LA, smoke from wildfires can damage the lungs. This can also cause inflammation which will further affect the immune system. According to her, if the linings in the lungs get damaged, the more chances of getting infected increase.

All doctors are currently encouraging everyone to stay indoors and not to take this virus lightly.
