BBC has reported Diana Rigg dead. The 82-year-old actress was fighting her way through cancer and died in her home. Rachael Stirling, her daughter was with her. BBC and The Independent gave the terrible news first.
Diana Rigg dead…peaceful death:
“My Beloved Ma died peacefully in her sleep early this morning, at home, surrounded by family,” said Rachael Stirling. It was diagnosed in March .” spent her last months joyfully reflecting on her extraordinary life, full of love, laughter and deep pride in her profession. I will miss her beyond words.” she added.
Diana Rigg did the role of House Tyrell matriarch Olenna Tyrell in Game of Thrones. He role was vital to the show. The role was the last leader of House Tyrell. Her fans in the UK called her The Queen of Thorns. Her character was a combination of wise and witty. The popularity in the show began when Olenna Tyrell tells her granddaughter that she killed King Joffrey Baratheon at the Purple Wedding. The very famous dialogue from that scene was “Tell Cersei it was me”.
Another famous dialogue she said to Daenerys Targaryen was “Be a dragon”. Olenna Tyrell said this when Daenerys Targaryen had called other realm leaders to fight against Cersei.
Diana Rigg dead at 82 is difficult news to hears for her fans.
Her full name was Enid Diana Elizabeth Rigg. She was born in Doncaster in 1938. Her father worked as a railway executive in India. Diana Rigg has spent a major part of her childhood in India.
She started her career at the Royal Shakespeare Company. Diana Rigg was best known for Emma Peel in The Avengers. She also did other roles like Countess Teresa di Vicenzo, wife of James Bond and in On Her Majesty’s Secret Service.
So many of her fans and colleagues have tweeted in the honour of her death.
