The concerned authorities have announced the new dates for the GATE Exam 2021. Further, as per the IIT Bombay, the examination will take place between February 5, 2021, to February 7, 2021; and February 12, 2021, to February 13, 2021. However, these are tentative dates of the Gate examination.

Moreover, as per the new eligibility criteria, students who are in the third year of their graduation can also appear for the Gate examination for the year 2021. According to last year’s eligibility requirements, only final year students were allowed to apply for Gate exam.
GATE (The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) Examination 2021
Indian Institutes of Technology administers the Gate Examination. And, the organisation conducts this exam every year. Through the Gate exam, students can get admission to Post Graduate (PG) Programs in the IITs, IIIT or NIT. Essential Dates For The GATE Exam 2021

- Application forms will be available from – Either Last week of August 2020 OR First week of September 2020
- Last Date to apply for the Gate Examination – Last week of September 2020
- Corrections in the submitted application form – Third week of October 2020
- Release of Hall Ticket – First week of January
- Date of Exam – February 5 to 7,2021 and February 12 to 13, 2021
- Date of the results – Third week of March 2021
NOTE – However, these are the tentative dates. It can change according to the current situation of the pandemic of COVID -19.
Eligibility Criteria For Gate Exam 2021
The following are the qualifying degrees to appear in the Gate examination for the year 2021:
BE (Bachelor of Engineering) Or B.Tech (Bachelor of Technology)
- Candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Technology. (Four years after 10+2)
- Students who are in the third year or final year at present can apply as well.
B. Arch (Bachelor of Architecture)
- Firstly, a candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture (A 5 years program).
- More importantly, students who are in final year or have completed the course at present can apply as well.
B.S (Bachelor of Science)
- Certainly, the interested candidate should have a bachelor’s degree in Science (Four years).
- Further, students who are in the final year at present can apply for Gate Exam 2021.
M.Sc/ M.A./ M.C.A
- Most importantly, a candidate should possess a Master’s degree in any subject field of Statistics, Mathematics, Science, or Computer application.
- Further, students who are studying in the final year of such programs can apply for Gate Exam 2021.
M.E (Master of Engineering) or M.Tech (Master of Technology)
Four Year Integrated Program
- Most importantly, a candidate should possess a Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology (Post B.Sc).
- Further, students who are studying in the second, third, or final year of such programs can apply.
Five Year Integrated Program
- Most importantly, a candidate should possess a Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology.
- Further, students who are studying in the fourth or final year of such programs can apply.
NOTE – Foreign students can also appear for the GATE Exam 2021. But, they should have a foreign passport (Country other than India) to apply for it.
Application Form: GATE Exam 2021
Students would have to wait for some time to fill the application form for Gate Exam 2021. The online portal would probably be available in the month of August 2020. However, the mode of submission of application forms will be online only. Further, applicants would have to pay the application fee to submit their applications.
Further, candidates are required to fulfil the eligibility criteria to apply for the exam. So, it is advised to go through the eligibility requirements before you apply. Otherwise, your application may get disqualified or rejected.
Exam Pattern of GATE Exam 2021
GATE ( The Graduate Test in Engineering) is a computer-based, online test. Thus, the following are the details of the exam for the year 2021:
- The Language of Examination paper will be English.
- And, the total number of questions will be 65.
- A total number of marks of the Gate Exam 2021 will be 100.
- Certainly, the Duration of the Gate Exam 2021 will be 180 minutes.
- The type of questions will be in the format of MCQs and NAT.
- Further, MCQs will have four choices. But, NAT questions will not have any choice.
- MCQs – Every correct answer will get 1 or 2 marks. And, there will be negative marking of -1/3 in 1 mark questions. And -2/3 in 2 marks questions.
- NAT – Every correct answer will get 1 or 2 marks. And, there will be no negative marking.
NOTE – MCQ refers to Multiple Choice Questions. And, NAT refers to Numerical Answer Type questions.
