Genshin Impact Developer Responds to Accusations: Plagiarism, Spyware and More

The recent trending game Genshin Impact grew into somewhat of an internet sensation lately. With a low price tag of zero, fans of cost effective gaming have flocked to it. Additionally, it’s available on mobile devices, making it one of the most high graphics games on the market for phones. However, amid all what would be considered nothing but praise for the game in the form of downloads and popularity, the game has also gained an immensely infamous reputation almost overnight. Despite some game differences, thousands of Nintendo fans protested the game upon release due to its immense similarity to Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Fans raised protest with Breath of the Wild copies in hand at the game release announcement. A Zelda fan even smashed his PS4 console in a rage. Fans called it a shameless clone.

Is Genshin Impact a Breath of the Wild clone?

FreeMMOStation once again during an interview attempted to stress that the game was different. They addressed how while some aspects of the game may be similar, at the end of the day, they were still two completely different games. The developers admitted that while Breath of the Wild was clearly inspiration for aspects of their game, it was not intended to be a clone, nor was it being marketed as one. Because of Breath of the Wild’s popularity, the staff held it in very high regard. As an open world RPG, Genshin Impact took heavy inspiration from the popular Breath of the Wild series. What the developers wished to bring to light is, the games are very different from each other once people get the chance to play and experience both individually. Genshin Impact contains individual characters and a rich story.

The gameplay itself revolves around an assembled party and many characters going into combat at the same time. Breath of the Wild, is simply a solo adventure, not meant to be party driven. Alternatively, elements in the game also make an appearance. These elements aid the fighting in special ways, through unique attacks that only certian elements and classes can preform. Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, has nothing that is similar enough to this to call it copied. Even though super powered abilities are involved, they are not strictly limited to being elements, nor are they strictly limited to combat exclusive use. The developer also promised that, once the game was removed from beta and into a full release, fans would soon be able to see, distinguish, and eventually believe the differences between these games.

First Impressions: Too Close to Breath of the Wild?

Despite the backlash from the Nintendo population at large, Genshin Impact continues growing and progressing among the community it was built for. For a long time, people have regarded mobile, free to play games, as cheaply built and cheaply acquired experiences. Additionally, mobile games have accrued a reputation for being cheap in the gatcha category. Games often offered a pay-to-win deal or immensely low rates for rare items.

However, Genshin Impact breaks this reputation by offering what fans regard as a quality game. These developers have surprised us with a genuine attempt at a genuine game. Already the game is accumulating fans. Additionally, the game’s price tag boasts not as the best feature. Despite easily being able to be a gatcha, Genshin Impact offers a legitimate experience rather than a time wasting opportunity. London Philharmonic Orchestra preformed a wonderful score for this game. Players can discover an adventure in the vast open-world aspect of the game. The fantasy setting also stands as both a difference and a joy in the game. Magical creatures, people and cities exist in the game for the adventurer to explore. Cute companions, and a tugging story hold the audience close.

Despite only having been a day or so since Genshin Impact’s release, there is already controversy piling high. Aside from the game itself, people are making more accusations. Accusations flew surrounding whether spyware was in the game or not. Many recipients of the game complained and accused the Genshin developer, with claims that spyware lurked within the game data. However, the company responded that such claims held baseless. Players noticed extra downloaded data. Furthermore, the anti-cheat system in place requires kernel access to function. Rumors and debate spread all over the internet, once again.
