Mahatma Gandhi’s iconic glasses auctioned in UK. These pair of glasses cost 260,000 pounds. The glasses were worn by Gandhi Ji.
The Auction House found these pairs in their letterbox. An old man left these glasses in their letterbox, according to them. East Bristol Auctions wrote on Instagram after the sale late Friday. Also they quoted “An incredible result for an incredible item! Thanks to all those who bid.” Gandhi Ji were known to give their old or unwanted pairs to the needy people all over the world and the old man one of them. The old man got these pair of glasses when he was working at Bharat Petroleum in South Africa. It was during the time of 1920s.
The sale smashed the estimated price of 15,000 pounds. Auctioneer Andrew Stowe told Sky News earlier this month that the vendor had told him: “If they’re no good, just throw them away.”

Mahatma Gandhi’s iconic glasses auctioned
It was always interesting that the glasses were available with us, the auction house said. Also the auctioneer was very happy after the glasses surpassed his estimation. He also said that the glasses had been handed down to many generations and these glasses came into his family when one of his relatives met Gandhi during 1920s on a visit to South Africa.
There were many bids which came from India, Qatar, Russia, America and Canada. But in the end the brave one always wins. With the same hope someone undisclosed name won these glasses. Gandhi’s glasses have surpassed all expectations, and previous house records. It’s been a great day!, the auctioneer said. It will have a new house from now onwards. Its a auction record for the auction house and they are proud to have that auction.
