The National Council Of Educational Research and Training has mentioned in its detailed notification; the total number of posts of recruitment are five. Secondly, the total number of vacancies are 266 for different categories. The details are as follows :

Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria include the age, educational qualification, work experience and other requirements. The candidate should fulfil every aspect of eligibility. So, the details are as follows:
AGE
- Age of Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor, Librarian and Assistant Librarian will be as per the NCERT/UGC/Govt. of India norms as amended from time to time and in force at the time of the closing date of
filling-up online application. - Most importantly, the candidate should note that Date of Birth as recorded in the Matriculation /Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate available on the date of submission of application will only be accepted by the NCERT for determining the age eligibility and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.
Essential Educational Qualification
- Professor – M.A / PhD in a particular subject.
- Associate Professor – M. ED/ M.A in a particular subject. A candidate must have obtained a minimum of 55% in post-graduation degrees. They also should have completed their PhD in their particular field of education.
- Assistant Professor – M.Ed./ M.A. in their particular subject with at least 55% marks. A candidate should be NET qualified.

Eligibility: Educational Qualification
Pay Scale for all posts
As per the detailed notification of NCERT recruitment 2020, the pay scale for the posts of Assistant professor, Associate Professor, Professor are as follows :
Professor/Librarian: Academic level 14 with rationalized entry pay of Rs. 1,44,200/- (Pre-revised scale of pay : Rs.37,400-67,000 with AGP-10,000)
Associate Professor: Academic level 13A with rationalized entry pay of Rs. 1,31,400/-
(Pre-revised scale of pay : Rs.37,400-67,000 with AGP-9,000)
Assistant Professor/Assistant Librarian: Academic level 10 with rationalized entry pay of
Rs.57,700/-(Pre-revised scale of pay : Rs.15,600-39,100 with AGP-6,000)
So, the pay scale for Professor or librarian is between Rs.37,400 to 67,000. For Associate professor, the pay scale is between Rs.37,400 to 67,000. And, for the post of Assistant professor or Assistant Librarian, the pay scale is Rs. 57,700.
Online Application Form: NCERT Recruitment 2020
Candidates can fill the application form through online mode only. Candidates can fill the application form through the following steps. They also need to consider important points while filling the online application form.
- Candidates should fill in the details to register at the official web site, i.e. ncert.nic.in.
- Secondly, click on the official notification pdf under the heading “ADVT. 171/2020”
- After that, Click on APPLY ONLINE”.
- Fill the information in the online application form at the appropriate places very carefully as per the instructions
available on the website. - Upload your passport size photograph and signature with other required documents.
- Pay the application fees through online mode (Only male candidates).
Important points while filling the examination
- Fields with STAR (*) mark are mandatory and essential to be filled in by the candidate. When all the required information have been provided, click the submit button.
- While filling up the details in the application online, candidates are also required to upload their scanned recent/latest colour passport size photograph, applicant’s signature and all the relevant documents. The candidates for the posts advertised have to keep a set of the application with documents duly photocopied with him/her for record and the same to be produced at the time of verification of document/ interview if shortlisted.
NOTE – However, before clicking the “Submit” button, a candidate must make sure that no changes are required and the information provided is correct and final. After the submission of the application , the organisation will not entertain any changes.
Selection Procedure
The National Council Of Educational Research and Training will shortlist the candidates by the last date of submission of application. The organisation will inform the shortlisted candidates for the interview. The date of the interview has not been updated yet. The organisation will soon update the date for the interview.
Application Fees for NCERT Recruitment 2020
Candidates can pay the application fees through online mode only. The details are as follows :
Application fee:-
- Applicants {UR (Male)/OBC (Male)/EWS (Male)}are required to pay a fee of Rs.1000/- (Rupees One thousand only) through online payment mode. Therefore, other modes of payment will not be accepted.
- SC/ST/PWD/Women candidates do not need to pay the application fees.
NOTE – Applications without the prescribed fee would not be considered and summarily rejected. Fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor can the fee be held in reserve for any other examination or selection.
