The students were demanding the postponement of the NEET-UG exam, as previously it was scheduled on July 26th. The NEET-UG exam, which is conducted for admission into MBBS/BDS courses at various elite institutions across the country. About 15 lakh students applied for the NEET exam this year, which were demanding the postponement of the exam to a further date. The students even posted their concerns over Twitter by asking questions directed towards the HRD minister and other concerning authorities.

The parent’s also written letters to the HRD Minister Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan. The concerned parents provided a list of reasons as to why these exams must be postponed to a later date or when the situation comes under control. The parents also raise their concerns about the “shortage of medical facilities” as depicted by various news articles and media.
THE TWITTER GEN POSTPONEMENT

The requests and concerns of both students and teachers got approved, as the HRD ministry earlier yesterday announced the postponement of both the exams. The NEET 2020, JEE(mains) 2020 and advanced exams were postponed till September 2020. The new update schedule for the exams is also provided as, JEE 2020 mains exams will held on September first week and the advanced till September 27th 2020. The NEET 2020 exam is further postponed till September 13th, 2020. The students although happy about the decision were also left with confucsion at hand as to how the further process of entrance and application procedure will do. Many colleges in India now prefer the scores of these centralized examinations as accepted admission parameters into various courses.
CONCERNS ABOUT JEE AND NEET EXAM DELAY
The major concerns looms, says experts, as this delay in exams may result into more confusion among the students. As this may also enunciate the scrambling of the academic calendar. The experts put their concerns majorly over the course structurization and also over further delay in the admission and counseling process.
The NEET exam being the most preferred and only entrance examination for medical and dental college admissions. Usually, for these dental and medical courses, the counseling for central or all India Quota seats takes place initially. And later the counseling for remaining State-wise Quota begins. This long procedure for the counseling may result into consuming the complete month of October. Which further pushes the session commencement till mid-november till early December this year.
THE DELAY OF EXAMS : IMPACT
The impact of this delay may lead to completely jeopardizing the college year structure for first year students. This delay simply, implies shorting out one complete semester out of the course structure. This may result in doubling the burden over the students, in their second semester or the year following. Which further leads to burden over teachers and the authorities. Some even speculated that this year gap might lead to confusion. As students falling for courses and institutes which they may not wish to undertake earlier, if the situation would’ve turned out normally.
There are some alternatives for the examination authorities to make the process of admission geared up. Also without compromising the safety and security of the students. The authorities though being confident about the whole process of conducting the examination smoothly. They have provided little insight about the ways they are trying to make these examination computer based or ‘Online’. As the NEET and JEE 2020 exams postponed, this delay in examination may prove to be a sigh of relief at present. But this could result as a matter of concern later, if the authorities didn’t precisely measured all the counter-measures. This may prove difficult for countering the upcoming challenges it poses.
