Corona virus has had an impact on various sectors be it economy, society , education etc. Various school exams , college exams as well as competitive exams were postponed owing to the pandemic. The future of lakhs of students and their career seemed to head nowhere. But now, slowly , things are coming back to normal. Slowly , the Commissions in-charge of various exams are releasing the schedule for the same. One such exam is the UPSC exam , the dates for the interviews of which was released a day before by the Union Public Service Commission. The new dates have been released by UPSC.
BACKGROUND.
The dates for the UPSC preliminary exam was released yesterday. The UPSC preliminary exam this year was to be held on the 31st of May. Lakhs of students every year take this exam which is the first step of the ladder leading to the dream of becoming an officer. This year , due to the pandemic that has engulfed the world , there was a great hue and cry about the conduct of the exam. Since the declaration of lockdown , students wrote to the Ministries and the Commission requesting the postponement of the exam. It was not until 2 weeks before the exam that the postponement of the exam was announced.
Interview procedure for the students who qualified the Mains 2019 was also pending. This left many students worried about when the interview would be held . Release of new and revised dates became necessary to clear the confusion in the minds of the aspirants. To relieve this tension the New Dates Were Released by UPSC.
WHAT ARE THE NEW DATES AND SCHEDULE OF THE UPSC EXAM?
“Personality Tests for Civil Services (Main) Examination, 2019 for remaining candidates are being resumed from 20-07-2020. Candidates will be informed individually,” the UPSC notified.
The New Dates were Released by UPSC. Thus 20th July is when the interview process that was pending will be carried out. The students can thus prepare accordingly now that the new dates have finally released.
The UPSC interviews had started off from February 17, 2020, and was scheduled till April but the remaining Civil Services interviews had to be postponed due to the sudden outbreak of Covid-19 virus in our country.
The UPSC Preliminary exam which was to take place on the 31st of May , is now schedules to be held on the 4th of October this year. The students who would clear the prelims would be eligible for the Mains exam which is to be held from 8th of January , 2021 onwards.
POSTPONEMENT OF THE EXAM DATES: GOOD OR BAD?
The possibility of exams being conducted on the original dates was meagre. With the new dates released by UPSC for the interview now , students can prepare themselves accordingly. One can make their own schedule of preparation keeping the dates in mind.
Those who had to appear for the preliminary exam have now got a window of 4 more months to prepare . They can now integrate their prelims preparation and Mains preparation as after prelims not much time would be left to prepare for the Mains exam.
