PM Modi launches 2,300-km undersea optical fiber cable for Andamans. He felt that the Andaman & Nicobar (A&N) Islands needs this for years. But no action or steps taken.  On Monday Prime minister launched optical fibre cable (OFC) a submarine connecting Andaman & Nicobar Islands to the mainland. Well this will lead to cheap and better telecom connectivity in the Union Territory. Hence Andaman & Nicobar to experience a new and better service.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s views-

On December 30, 2018, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation for connecting Chennai-Andaman and Nicobar Islands (CANI) with optical fiber. Moreover to this PM adds the project provides better and cheap connectivity to the people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands is country’s duty.

Modi said  “Providing better and cheap connectivity to the people of Andaman & Nicobar Islands is the responsibility of the country”.

The PM said the government is committed to provide modern facilities to every citizen and every sector so that there can be a better ease of living.

Bharti airtel’s move

Moreover, Bharti airtel is all set to become the first mobile operator to launch ‘Ultra-Fast 4G’ services in  Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Whereas Bharti Airtel was providing services in Andaman & Nicobar since 2005.

The company’s chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal said – “The new fibre link marks a major milestone in India’s digital transformation journey as this critical infrastructure reaches the strategic archipelago. We are grateful to the Prime Minister for taking the time to launch this key digital infrastructure.”

According to our Prime Minister Narendra Modi  the channel will help the Union Territory in getting cheaper and better connectivity. In this COVID-19 situation every thing is online based. Hence better connectivity will lead to better online education, tele-medicine, banking system, online trading. Even it will boost tourism in coming days.
