Actress Sheridan Smith addiction struggles will now be a part of a documentary. The actress was in addiction with some medications and was in hospital in relation to the same.
In 2016, Sheridan Smith was taking anti anxiety pills. The actress had developed addiction towards the pills. Plus she was in a hospital for candidly stopping the intake of the medication.The actress of Bafta fame has made a documentary on “Mental Health”. She has made this documentary for ITV. While filming her documentary, the actress, Sheridan Smith mentioned in details about her addiction. In addition she also talked about all the problems she faced while she was not able to live without the pills. Plus, she listed the severe consequences of her addiction.
What she says?
In an interview about her documentary, Sheridan explains,
“Graham Norton was hosting and made a joke at my expense about me being a drunk… I was so humiliated. It’s a room full of your peers, people you want to work with or have worked with.”
The actress added,
“That night, for me, was like the final straw before my brain totally went off the deep end. What people didn’t realise is that I’d become addicted to anti-anxiety tablets. That night I took myself off to a hotel on my own. In my crazy mind, I thought, ‘I’ll [stop taking the tablets] myself’. I went there and just stopped my tablets.”
She continued,
“Weirdly, a friend of mine had rung me and she came to the hotel. It’s a miracle she did. It’s like someone was looking out for me because what I didn’t realise is that if you stop these tablets abruptly, you seizure”
Why the Documentary?
Smith became a mother for the first time in the year 2020. She says, she wanted to make this documentary to help and guide all the pregnant women in the lockdown who are struggling with their mental health.
Smith’s Documentary covers her entire journey of motherhood. It also includes the scanning sessions and the pre-natal classes.
