The Rock is so excited that he shared his First look as Black Adam way before DC Fandome. We get you Dwayne, we cannot wait either. Seeing The Rock as Black Adam is really not a surprise, he has been attached with this role for over a decade. DC fandom was about to give the first glimpse of the film on Saturday Aug 22, but Dwayne beat them to it. The Rock was first cast as Black Adam the great enemy of Shazam in 2014. But the film has encountered many delays and was set to go into production this year.
But once again unfortunately due to COVID-19 it is delayed again. It’s still not clear when the film will start shooting, but it is set to be released on 22nd Dec 2021. DC Fandom panel launches the first look for the film on 22nd Aug at 10 a.m. But Dwayne has given us a glimpse of what is in store for us with The rock as Black Adam.
Warner Bros have envisioned Black Adam as a spin-off of Shazam and even wanted to cast Dwayne as a villain in the 2019 movie but the plan fell through. The movie will be directed by Jaume Collet Serra and starts The rock as Black Adam and Noah Centineo.
The Story of Black Adam
Throughout the history Black Adam has been depicted as both a hero and a villain. He was the foremost wielder of Magic. Even before Billy Batson was chosen as a hero, Teth Adam was bestowed with this honour by Shazam. But as they say with power comes responsibility and though Teth- Adam or Mighty Adam began as a hero for humanity. later on he was corrupted by that same power and gave into his desires of ruling over the world and forgot his ideals. He believes in his brand of Justice and uses whatever means possible to achieve that. In latter depictions he was converted from a villain to an anti-hero. He just didn’t get along with others because he thought their means of justice were ineffective. Black Adam didn’t only fight with Shazam but Superman too.
Though we are not clear on the plot of the Dwayne’s movie, we can get some idea from this insta post:
“The hierarchy of power in the DC Universe is about to change,” Johnson wrote in the video’s caption. “Black Adam arrives tomorrow at [DC FanDome]. Personally, I salute my Warner Bros. and DC partners for creating this historic opportunity for fans to absorb our entire DC Universe while we all continue to manage the challenges of [COVID-19]. Well done.” Then, before signing off, the actor added: “The man in black is coming to crush them all.”
