Yes, you read it right! World’s first ‘transparent’ TV is here! Introduced by Xiaomi, it is all set to hit the global market soon.

What does a ‘transparent’ TV mean?

A ‘transparent’ TV is one that stands as a glass display when turned off. You can look through, see what all’s on the other side, the TV stands there just like a glass barrier. Plus, the pictures that it displays just seem to be floating in the air, having no solid background.

Features in the world’s first ‘transparent’ TV

The Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition does not come with a back panel like other TVs. Given that it is transparent, all the processing units operate from the base stand. This makes that screen relatively thinner than traditional TVs and offers a better transparent experience. The TV is said to have a 55-inch OLED screen with a 150000:1 static contrast ratio and an infinite dynamic contrast ratio. It sports a refresh rate of 120Hz and 120Hz MEMC technology. It also comes with a DCI-P3 93% colour spectrum support. The TV also has a 1ms fast response rate for the superb gaming experience.

The ‘transparent’ TV also prides itself with an AI Smart Master Engine and the MediaTek 9650 custom-made TV chip. The AI technology allows the TV to detect the type of content playing and then adjust the audio mode accordingly. There is also a custom-made MIUI technology that supports an Always-On Display and allows the users to customize the media that it displays.

Price and Availability

The Xiaomi Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition will cost around RMB 49,999 in China. That rises to Rs. 5.3 lakh in India and $7200 in the US.

Xiaomi announced the world’s first ‘transparent’ TV on August 11, alongside the two new Ultra phones. However, Xiaomi is yet to give out an official statement regarding the launch of Mi TV LUX Transparent Edition in the global market.
